Asda Recurring Slot Coronavirus
We're supporting over 3,500 care home customers across the country with the launch of a 'priority pass' and a donation of a quarter-of-a-million medical grade face masks, as they continue to care for some of the nation’s most vulnerable people through the Coronavirus pandemic.
We've listened to our customers and colleagues, who have told us that the impact of COVID-19 is particularly difficult for care homes as they work hard to provide care and support for residents and staff at this challenging time.
Our CEO, Roger Burnley, has written to customers explaining how we will be offering thousands of small care homes priority access to online delivery slots for the next six months, so they don't need to worry about getting the essentials they need.
- Asda, Morrisons, Tesco, Sainsbury's and Ocado have updated their supermarket delivery policies in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. If you're self isolating, an online shop is a way to get your essentials delivered to your door.
- I cancelled the Thursday slot and booked the Friday’s. I though that the recurring slot would automatically move too but it did not. I rang ASDA and they could not help at all, saying they can not change it on their end. So I cancelled all of it and rebooked the Friday again hoping that it would give me the option for recurring slot again.
- Christmas delivery and collection slots at Asda store are now open. The chain states that customers need to book a suitable time between 21 and 23 December to be able to shop the food in.
Asda is currently not showing any deliveries for the next few weeks but it’s worth flagging that the amount of home delivery slots can vary in different areas. Coronavirus: how the vulnerable and self-isolating can get help with food shopping, bills & more. Lidl shopping rules. Has it changed its store opening hours? Asda absolutely disgusting should be Asda absolutely disgusting should be ashamed Waited a week for delivery that’s fine slot between 7 and 9 to get a message at half 8 saying delivery on way great half 9 comes and goes half 10 comes and goes waited up till half 11 for delivery nothing, keep in mind no food in house this is the family shop have a 6 year old son all day try to get hold to.
Mr Burnley said: 'The impact of COVID on our care system has been the subject of numerous news reports in recent days, and the challenges facing our nation’s care homes and the staff who are working so hard to protect some of our most vulnerable people have been heart-breaking to see.
“Giving priority access to these amazing care homes is, I believe, the right thing for us to do – and I am proud, that having built the capacity of our online delivery service in recent weeks from 450,000 slots to 700,000 weekly slots, we are able to do this for our care homes.'
We're offering support to 3,500 small care homes who are already Asda customers, to help them claim a 'priority pass' that will give them the chance to be among the first to book available online slots and the ability to secure a recurring delivery slot.
As well as offering a 'priority pass' to these customers, we will also be supporting care homes in our communities by making a donation of 250,000 medical grade face masks to help protect workers and residents. Asda’s dedicated Community Champions will begin to distribute the masks from the middle of May and are also looking at how they can extend their existing support to care homes in their local area.
Our stores have already been out in their communities supporting local care homes, like Adam, our Bakery Section Leader from Asda's Bishop Auckland store, who had the brilliant idea of making treats which were delivered to eight homes in time for the Easter weekend with the help of Community Champion, Danielle.
Our Dewsbury Community Champion Sharon helped to brighten up residents and workers' day at York House care home in Earlheaton, after donating lots of colourful bunches of flowers.
And our colleagues in Chorley delivered care packages to key workers at Gillibrand Hall Care Home to thank them for all their hard work.
We also continue to welcome care home workers during priority hours in our stores so they can shop first every Monday, Wednesday and Friday before 9am - and exclusively to browse before stores open every Sunday.
Yesterday (3rd May) they were also given a £5 voucher to treat themselves during the exclusive shopping hour, as a token of our appreciation for their efforts.
Professor Martin Green OBE, CEO at Care England, says Asda's practical support is greatly appreciated at such a difficult time for care services.
He said: “Care staff are on the front line of this dreadful pandemic and it is great to see Asda offering practical help and support to care services and their staff.
'Asda has a long tradition of supporting their local communities and their support for care services at this difficult time is greatly appreciated by us all.“
Shoppers are being warned that supermarket slots are running low at some stores this Christmas.
Tesco, Asda and M&S have already warned about limited slots for Christmas supermarket deliveries, the Manchester Evening News reports.
Tesco is experiencing high demand, while Asda has warned shoppers: 'Once slots are gone, they’re gone.'
Sainsbury's' is urging people not to leave it too late - and M&S says its slots are already running out.
It is clear, then, that shoppers would be foolish to leave it too late as the Christmas dash for groceries and gifts intensifies.
Naomi Schraer of MoneySavingExpert said: 'With ongoing coronavirus restrictions, it's likely supermarket delivery slots will be in even greater demand this year with some households keen to avoid the shops, so it's best to get in while you can.'
The Be Clever With Your Cash website also warns that even if you do get a slot, some must-need items might run out because of the Christmas rush.
So for those who want to plan things now, the MEN has taken a look at the available information.
Tesco
Tesco's website says: 'We're experiencing high demand for slots around Christmas'.
At the moment, shoppers can book a click and collect slot or a flexi saver delivery slot.
The supermarket advises people to book a slot and add a few items to checkout before giving yourself more time to make your final list.
Once you are ready to finish your order, go back and check out again by 11:45pm on the day before your delivery.
Don't worry if you have forgotten something, because you can also amend your order as many times as you like, but make sure to check out each time you do.
But be warned - if there are any Festive Food to Order items in your Christmas basket, you will need to check them out by 11.45pm on December 14.

Once you have secured a slot, you'll need to check out, but you won't be charged for your basket until the day of delivery or collection.
You can also amend your basket as many times as you like until 11pm the day before.

Asda
It's game on here - Asda has opened its delivery and collection slots for Christmas.
The store says: 'Slots sell out fast at this busy time so make sure you book as soon as you can. Once slots are gone, they’re gone!'.

Therefore you'll need to book a new slot over that period before your regular slot will restart automatically after January 3.
